Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 Dear Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from hot and humid Iquitos! We are experiencing the jungle winter which means that it is raining a lot. Thank you for your prayers on our behalf. The Lord has been answering, though I am still praying for showers of blessing!

Praise the Lord!

  1. I have been sleeping better at the House of Rest at Betsan Baptist Church.
  2. The little House of Rest will be used for other church visitors.
  3. The Lord provided for the institute student who needed funds to continue in school.
  4. The institute choir program has improved and was a blessing in all five church visits.
  5. I had a good birthday celebration.
  6. Pastor George continues to improve and is back to preaching in his church. Some funds have been provided for his needs.
  7. A number of deaf attended chapel services at the institute this semester, averaging around 7.
  8. Nov. 16-19 we were privileged to have the visit of ABWE’s president, Dr. Loftis and his wife, and several other guests. Their time here was a blessing for all of us.
Prayer requests:
  1. Please pray for wisdom in ministry at Betsan Baptist Church; for the salvation of the children in my class, for ministry among the youth and adolescents to encourage purity and godly living.
  2. There are 5 Bible institute students graduating Dec. 6. Pray that this time of celebration will be an encouragement for the other students to stay the course until they complete it, also.
  3. Pray that the graduates will continue faithful to the Lord and follow His leading for ministry.
  4. Pray for wisdom for the Bible institute administrator and others planning for next year’s classes.
  5. Pray that the deaf will understand God’s Word and respond in obedience to Him. I have been invited to interpret for the preachers who will speak at Efata Baptist Church during Pastor Abraham’s vacation Jan. 11 – Feb. 8. Please pray for wisdom to know the Lord’s will in this, since I am still involved in Sunday school at Betsan Baptist Church.
  6. Pray for wisdom for me in planning for ministry during these vacation months, Dec. – Feb. I would like to plan a retreat, or at least visit the deaf along the Amazon River.
  7. December is the month when many are remembering Christ’s coming to earth to be our Savior. Pray that I will have wisdom in sharing the true Gospel with those around me, that they may be born again.
  8. And, lastly, pray for our missionary team here in Iquitos. My housemate, Darlene, will be leaving after Christmas for furlough and retirement. Andy and Carol Patton and their family are finishing Spanish language school and headed our way in Jan., Lord willing. Pray they will have the O&P funds needed to come without delay.

Thank you, again for standing (and kneeling) with me in ministry here in Peru. The Lord Jesus is surely coming soon. Let’s keep faithful to Him!

Your sister in Christ,
Lynn Porter
