Dear Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from Vista, California! Praise the Lord for good doctor check-ups! Everything checked out normal. This has been a great break with opportunities to share in person and by phone with several supporters and family and friends. I am looking forward to returning to Iquitos and the ministry there. Lord willing, I will be returning to Peru in mid-November.

Some of my current ministry goals and prayer requests for the Efata Baptist Church for the deaf in Iquitos are the following:
  1. Believers to marry and take active part in the ministry
  2. Discover spiritual gifts of our deaf members
  3. January missionary trip to minister to the deaf along the Amazon River – find the deaf out there, speaker(s), safety, spiritual growth of our believers

There is a “free” wedding ceremony planned by city hall on December 5 in the district of Iquitos where I live. All the couples have to do is bring in their documents. One couple, Diomedes and Teresa, already have their documents. It cost about $60 and several hours of my time as interpreter. I would like to see other couples take advantage of this opportunity and my help at this time. One couple, Claudio and Maribel, have their wedding planned for Dec. 30. I will also be helping them with their paperwork, Lord willing.

Pastor Abraham also gave me some prayer requests to pass on to you:
    Pastor Abraham's prayer requests
  1. A missionary family to work with the Deaf
  2. Two more teachers for the Efata School for the Deaf
  3. Necessary funding for paying teachers (We lost $250/mo. support in 2006)
  4. Funding for school field trips and the graduation trip in December 2007
  5. God’s will for their future ministry (Pastor Abraham & Patsy would like to go somewhere else to minister to the deaf.)
  6. Prepare workers for the deaf ministry
  7. Material needs of the school: vehicle, hand-held saw, grass-trimmer, hair clipper, balls

Thank you for your faithful praying and giving for this ministry. May the Lord bless you as you have blessed us.

Your sister in Christ,
Lynn Porter
