Lynn was raised in Peru as an M.K., as you know. She was about a year old when we went to
language school in Costa Rica in 1959. She was nearly two when we got to Peru.
Chuck and Carrie Porter
She went to Piedmont Bible College, graduating in 1981. She worked in the Christian school at
her home church in Paso Robles for a year, then spent a year as a short-termer in Peru. Then she
was appointed as a regular missionary, and arrived for her first term in November of 1983. So
she just celebrated her 20th anniversary of work in Peru.
Her work has mostly been with the deaf in the Efata deaf church and school. She has classes
with a lot of the deaf young girls, helping them to understand the Scriptures. She uses the
"Source of Light" lessons for this. She also has a ministry of accompanying the deaf girls to the
doctors' offices and hospitals, interpreting for them. She is also the treasurer for the Iquitos field
council. She teaches pretty regularly in the Iquitos Baptist Bible Institute. lately teaching mostly
the Old Testament Survey course.

Lynn has a lot of other ministries she carries on as well in the churches of Iquitos, in camps,
retreats, seminars, campaigns, etc. She is the only real link between the deaf church and the
other churches in Iquitos. She interprets for the deaf at campaigns, etc., and also translates at the
deaf meetings for any hearing persons who attend. She also has a ministry with the children in
the neighborhood where she lives, bringing them in to her home for a time of singing and Bible
story nearly every evening when she arrives home from her activities. She uses her car to pick up
a lot of the deaf children to take them to the services of the deaf church.
